Words: 333. Verania Bellross ran down the pebbles path that will lead her to Parris dorm. It’s a rather cold Sunday morning, and it’s still very early that the mist from the woods and the hills were still crawling around the academy. She wasn’t supposed to be there, she wasn’t supposed to be outside at all. That’s right, Vera broke another rules, and spent a night at the chateau instead of her house’s villa. Well, she didn’t intend to stay that long, actually.. it was an accident. An imp caught her red handed and she had no choice but to run and hide. She was captured before, and she didn’t expect to repeat that same mistake. It was horrible. However, this imp was very stubborn, and it chased her everywhere, even blocking the exit. She got lucky the sun had risen, and so the imp went back to where it belonged.
Ah, the misty shore… the blonde exhaled softly, staring at the white sandy beach with enormous fog floating around it. Even the sun light from the Mahaska Hills had yet to touch it. It’s really scary, it gave her chills; some said that if you ever came to the beach during the hour of the mist, the dead will lure you further to the sea, and have you drowned in the bottom. Some students also sworn that there’s (somehow) a megalodon living in the water—but the teachers insisted that it’s just a very large shark. Whichever that was, it’s still a shark! Vera won’t be going risking her life on that place anytime soon.
The raccoon kept running down the path, she can’t wait to reach her room and to get some sleep. Plus, she’s wearing a casual outfit instead of her pajamas or the school sportswear, anyone would know that she didn’t come out from her dorm. However, her feet were now tired, and she needed to stop for a while. Vera finally halted, and stretched herself as she regain her strength.

Her parents usually wake up before the sun rise in order to take care of their groves. As soon as she get used to wake up before dawn, Idelle accompany her parents to work. Usually water plants or bringing them tool box. Thankfully they have a couple of house elves to take care of the house so they can focus on the grounds. The habit continues after she enter SALOM. Since there is no work, Idelle choose the opportunity to jog. Jogging while breathing fresh air felt good, and it helps build up stamina for hurrah squad. Also there might be a chance to meet someone, preferably a cute boy also out for jogging. Then they'll be jogging partners... Idelle can't stop her giggle.
Idelle is wearing a green jacket, fitting black running pants and grey running shoes with pink highlight. She look very cute. Along the way she passes the cemetery and eventually reach the Misty Shore. Idelle never really interested in it. The rumours about megalodon and sharks due intrigue her but those two don't have anything that can be used as wand core.
Green eyes blink when she caught sight of something golden. Golden? The sun isn't up yet

Vera noticed the smaller girl running towards her--it's more like she's jogging on her path, actually. Crap.. she thought, narrowing her eyes at the stranger that got even nearer. The redhead was probably too excited that she had to go jogging this early, how she irritated by new souls, they were always so eager. Exactly just, like, her. The most important question that popped in her mind, though.. 'she's not going to stop and say hi, right?' and if she would stop 'she's not going to pinpoint my appereance and report me to the teachers, wouldn't she?'
The raccoon was pretty sure that she could persuade or threat a bear, or a deer, or another raccoon.. but not a spider. She will be in danger if this turned out to be a spider. Carefully, Vera pulled her wand out from the strap on her thigh, just in case she should knocked out this girl. But then again, she already saw her--HER HAIR could be seen from miles away! So it's not going to do her any good. Calculating the next movement, Vera turned to face the sea. She tried to figure another solution, incase the girl would stop and ask her those things.
But then.. her eyes caught something really blurry among the mist. "Is... that??" she narrowed her eyes at what she thought a figure of a three kids--probably the rednette's classmate.
Nah.. she must've been imagining things, right?

The closer she is to the mysterious object, the clearer it is. The golden object is hair. An older girl with long blonde hair is standing at the shore. Judging from her clothings, she is probably out for the same reason as her... Or not. It didn't miss Idelle that she is holding her wand... And there's a wand holster on her hip. Wand holsters are typically used by above average duellist. What is this girl doing? Out here early and holding a wand like she's in a secret mission?
An imaginary light bulb went on in her head. 'This girl must be sneaking out or doing something that breaks the rules' Blackmail is not her style but there is a first time in everything. First, Idelle must see for herself if Miss Duellist have something that can be bargained with.... And a closer look at her wand won't hurt.
The older girl looks nervous. Is that guilt or anxiety of her telling the teacher? Her eyes are focused to the sea... Idelle stop her jog, standing a few feet away from the blonde. She turn her head toward the sea. What is she staring at? The mist is quite thick.

Vera's brow twitched in annoyance. From the corner of her eyes, she saw that the younger girl had actually stopped only several feet away. If this were her classmate, they must've run off already, afraid that she'll launch a destructive curse at them. The blond was about to speak to the rednette, warning her to keep running--but then, she heard another squeak from the direction of the ocean. Vera quickly changed her attention, and narrowing her eyes at the two figures on the beach. "Aw, man!" she hissed as she watched them walking closer to the waves.
Glaring, she faced the stranger again, "You! Either stay here, or continue jogging!" and ordered her. She couldn't just tell her to go and tell the teacher, because then they will be on to her! She could only hope that she will ignore her, and walk away. Wasting no time, Vera slid down the mini hills that led to the shore (running through the path will take more time). She landed smoothly on the sand, and picked up her pace. "You two, stop!" yelling, the raccoon tried to pursue those two children. She hoped she'll be on time to pull them away.

Idelle is taken aback when the girl shouts at her. No, she's actually ordering her around! Who the heck is she? Clearly it's someone who break the rules and now intimidating her to go away... Typical of bullies. Some spiders like to 'tease' other students pretty hard but they are more subtle. (Okay there are some short minded people in their house) Being ordered around by someone clueless is not their thing either. Idelle choose to stay here but not because the older girl intimidate her. It's because something is clearly wrong at the moment. Even though she is unable to see clearly in this mist, Idelle pretty sure the blonde saw something dangerous. The blonde jumped down the hill and make her way to the beach. In normal circumstances that would be stupid but...
"You two! Stop!"
There's someone in the water?!
((Duchi it's redhead or ginger. Not rednette. Noirnette is not a word either ^^; ))

Words: 1159 ((Lol! I know! XD It’s just that I love how they sounds, and I saw some people used them in their writings too. So I think it’s developed into some kind of inter-globe slang now. But alright, I won’t use the rednette again. I’m still going to use the noirnette because it’s cute—but not in a formal events. Thanks for the reminder Cya Oh, and Andi turned out to be busy, so he’s not going to appear until last minute ^^’)) Even after yelling at them, those two kids kept walking as if they didn’t hear her at all. Chills ran down her spine. Even from this distance, she could see their blank expressions and empty gazes. She saw this before.. in a short movie from DADA classroom—it’s not the exact thing, but it’s similar. They looked like someone just cast an imperius curse at them, but she knew that whatever controlling them now were something older, and darker. Damnit.. she thought, thinking that she’s still too far. These sands were not helping her at all. “ Finite incantatem,” Vera pulled her wand, and pointed it at them. She frowned when nothing happened. It looked like she’s not strong enough to break whatever magic in this place. However, she doesn’t want to directly charm the student, that’s why, “ Pisqu,” the next thing she did was to release a flock of white birds towards them. The birds were clearly a distraction, they came from behind the first years, grazes their body, before eventually flown away. “You’ve gotta be kidding me!” Vera hissed when those two still pacing towards the sea. The waves were now crashing onto their ankle. “Locomotor Mortis!” Vera exclaimed and aimed to one of them. The kid yelped—his body jumped before his feet eventually locked together and he fell to the water. Great, it always happened whenever she released this kind of charm to other people—even after she tried to soften the damage. “ Incarcerous!” she charmed the other kids. The younger girl fell straightly onto the wet beach with ropes tied around her body. However, unbelievable it might be, the two were still trying to get to the water! Vera was now sprinting, and tackled the two of them. They were falling into the cold water, and she tried to grab them as strong as she could. The blonde exclaimed and spat the salty water, doing her best to pull them out. They were somehow unconscious after the physical contact, but it was hard to drag them. The waves were unbelievably strong, it almost felt like it was pulling them. On the contrary with the previous event, she really hoped that the redhead will call out for help—or helped her. The latter seemed to be a bad idea though.

Idelle watch in mix of horror and wonder as the two kids keep coming back to the water. No matter what the blond do. The older girl have no choice but grab and hold on. Can she get them back to the shore though? Without Blondie herself get washed away as well? The water is cold as well. At this rate they will either drown and hyporthemia. The spells doesn't work. It becomes clear that the two kids are not in their right mind.
The young Catherwood weigh her options. She can run back to the chateau and alert someone... But that might be too late. Or she can use spell to aid them. However as a first year, her spells are rather limited. If she go to the water... She might end up getting washed away....
Since she won't be able to be much help physically, Idelle decide to search for help. She turn around and left the beach, running at full speed towards the buildings

Clifford Algren just walked out of Parris dormitory. It’s still very early, and the air felt so cold and nice. He really liked the cool breeze, they always blown away whatever left of his sleepiness. The young man stretched his body, and scratches his platinum blond bangs. His teal colored eyes were closed for the moment, since he’s trying to adjust his mood to the environment around him. After some moments, he opened them again, and they’re filled with determination and positive vibes. Well, now it’s time to do his morning chores, and obligation.
The sixth year continued to pace out from Parris’ garden, his steps were light and carefree. But he stopped when he spot a ginger head running towards the chateau. The girl’s really small if it’s compared to him, and she’s wearing what it looks like her jogging getup. He would mistake her for exercising if only he wasn’t notice her frantic expression. “Idelle Catherwood,” he called out with a clear voice. Man, he really hoped he doesn’t startle her. His friends told him that he should stop coming from out of nowhere and calling to them.
But yes, Clifford recognized her. It’s his job to know each student and to be friendly with them. This one he particularly remembered because of her last name. The teachers also gave him an unspeakable instruction that he should both respect and keep an eye to this Catherwood bloodline. Idelle should’ve able to recognize him as the Student Body President that gave a fresh speech at the welcoming ceremony, and the person that organized the students during the day of rememberance. She’d probably remember that he’s liked by many, and probably, the only person outside the Skelton that actually acquired not only their respect, but also their sympathy.
Clifford gaze traced out from Idelle’s figure, and landed to the place where he suspected was the way where she‘s coming from. His eyes narrowed when he noticed that it’s the misty shore. “Alright, can you tell me what is happening at the beach?” he turned to the ginger again, and smiled politely. However, the look in his eyes had change into something serious, and he wasted no time to march to the sea. He hoped she’ll keep up with him, and though he should probably call a teacher, he knew that everything would be already too late if he turned around at the chateau.

If she can, Idelle will sigh out of relieve. However she is in a very excited state right now, her heart beating fast from all the running. Someone is stepping out from the Parris villa, and thank her lucky stars it's the Student Body President, Clifford Algren. Now, in normal ciscumstances, Idelle will definitely check him out but there's an emergency right now. The senior seems to realise the gravity of the situation from one look at her frantic face. He immediatelly head toward the beach. The fact that he recognize her even from afar do excites Idelle.
"There are two kids at the ocean--- I am not sure what exactly happened to them but they seem drawn to the ocean. A senior who coincidetally passed by try to pull them back to land but they... They just keep coming back! They don't even react when being called. The senior is trying to drag them back but the water might already wash them away at this point!"
Talking and running at the same time is tiring but somehow she is able to keep up with the teenage boy.

Clifford calmly listened to Idelle’s explanation. “I see…” he murmured, his gaze turned sharp as he got a better view of the shore. The fog was too thick, but he knew that the ginger was not lying. “Well, something like this always happened every year. I should’ve been more aware,” he turned to Idelle, and beamed brightly. They had one peaceful week, and he thought nothing bad would happen.. Maybe he should put a month of surveillance for next year. These new kids were too curious and excited—not that he could blame them.. They were young.
“Ah, gold.. I think I know who is this senior that you’re talking about,” Clifford lightly chuckled as he spotted a flash of blond hair behind the fog. He internally started to panic, but he tried to keep his calm. Everything’s going to be alright, he had faith with his ability. “Are you coming?” he asked when both he and Idelle reached the spider’s previous spot. “If you do, then I’ll do my best so that nothing in the shore can harm you. And you probably can help us too,” smiling, he offered a hand to the first year.

"Are you coming?"
Idelle stare at the extended hand. She have no real obligation to be here, other than social and moral expectations of helping your fellow students. Despite (finally) owning a wand, she don't know much spells nor the experiences to know what to do in this situation. Idelle will most likely be a burden than help. She can try to go back and look for more help but what about these four? Can they handle it? Can she really help? Idelle is scared. For her life, for these strangers' lives. Will her contribution even matter in extreme cases like this?
But if she stayed and everyone survives.... They owe her. And she get to see some magic too.
Reluctantly, the girl place her hand in Clifford's. "If the situation get worse, permission to go back and get the others. Preferably teachers."

Upon Idelle’s request, Clifford let out a nice chuckle. He understood her fear, and he hoped to ease them. “It won’t get even worse than this. I promise,” he smiled, entangled his fingers with hers, and safely escorted her down. “Alright, so first thing first; never, ever, blank out in this beach,” he said seriously as he brought Idelle several meters from where Vera was standing. The blond let go the ginger’s hand, and pulled out his wand. He mentally chanted a spell, and made a wide circle around Idelle—enough for four people to stood inside it. “Second, never walk out of this circle,” he mentally casted numerous protection charms around the circle, “Because I just cast protection spells in it,” and proceeded to take off his jacket, shoes, and socks. “I’m sorry Catherwood, please hold on to them for a while,” the student body president smiled as he ran backwards. It looked so charming and radiant, if it compared to this dark and foggy place.
Clifford then ran off normally, determination was in his eyes, and he stormed into the cold water without giving it a second thought. It was a perfect timing because Vera nearly lost her footing. “Ah, Bellross. What an inconvenient way to meet in the morning,” he snatched Vera’s arm, helping her to stand tall again. “I’ll take it from here,” carefully, he took the two kids from the fourth year’s arms, and grabbed them both on his sides. Clifford struggled to walk back to the beach—it’s really hard and the wave kept dragging him further into the sea, but he’s used to it, and eventually he ran back to the circle. The student body president crashed into the sands, coughing water as he safely set the boy and the girl down. His body was soaking wet that his t-shirt practically glued to his skin.
“Make sure that they stay in the circle, and keep them close to you,” he instructed Idelle and looked up to her, dead serious. He’s not ordering her around, just simply pressuring his words, who knew if the girl was blanking out already. He really hoped that his ability managed to ward off any dark magic in this shore, even if it’s just a bit. Clifford pushed himself up, with a soft grunt he returned to sprint at the beach, to get Verania Bellross out from water. “Hang on, Vera,” the girl nearly reached the beach, but he knew that it’s still going to take a lot of effort, and she must’ve run out batteries already. So he swung her up from her feet, and carried her bridal style. “Man, you kids grew up a lot during summer,” the raccoon tried to ease the mood by joking, but it’s also because Vera felt heavier than last year.
Back in the circle, the boy and the girl were still unconscious, but their body were trembling in cold.

Shit! I’m going to die here—Dillon! Vera thought frantically. She drank too much water, her body nearly given up, and she felt really scared.. The girl lost her footing, and for a second, she thought she saw her cousin standing a few meter in front of her before she eventually submerged. She didn’t let the kids go, though. Thinking that she just.. shouldn’t. Thankfully, she felt a strong tug on her elbow after that. Vera had being pulled back to the surface, and she coughed around as she heard a very unfit greeting.
“President!” she exclaimed in disbelief, and tried to regain her footing. Maybe she’s just dreaming, but then she remembered that Clifford Algren did have a routine in checking the campus perimeter every morning and late at night. Her savior smiled at her, and took the first years away. His teal eyes flashed at her for a while, they were sharp and serious, as if instructed her to pull her ass back to the beach too. So Vera struggled to do so.
The waves were pulling her like crazy, she started to feel dizzy, and freezing. She could see a flash of red, though, like hair. And she kept proceeding to that spot before she noticed. Again, the president came to her aid just a second later. She’s busy trembling and coughing water as he carried her back to the sands, she didn’t even reacted to his jokes.
Behind them, if Idelle was focus enough, she’ll spot another kid sitting on a floating vessel. Sure, it seemed vague thanks to the fog, but it’s there, and it’s getting further.

Being the boy crazy that she is, Idelle feel her heart thumping like crazy. President Algren is just too cute! Not to mention nice! Him holding her hand makes her hand tiny comparable to his. If Idelle is not drenched in sweat before, her palm is definitely sweating now. When they reach the beach, President turn dead serious and proceed to tackle the business. Idelle watch him cast various charms with wide eyes. Her gaze settled on his wand. She almost missed his instruction.
Having nothing better to do, Idelle decide to smooth out Clifford's jacket and socks. She brush off the sand, fold the jacket, place the sock on top of it, and place the shoes next to it. President returned to their spot, holding in each arm a child. Idelle is almost distracted with his wet hair framing his handsome face. The children looks like they're freezing to death. The Catherwood pull out her wand, fumbled with it a little bit to nervousness. Remembering the charm her mother taught her, Idelle mutter the necessary spell for Hot-Air charm. She point it at the boy and then the girl. She have to make sure they each got their turns. It might give them temporary warmth but immediate trip to the healers will guarantee their survival.
Idelle lift her head, seeing President Algren carry the senior bridal style. Lucky her. Her eyes widened in horror when she spot something- or someone else in the water. Having no time to process if it is indeed a person, Idelle point a finger in that direction. "President! There's someone else in the water!" She shouts to Clifford.
